When your next plastics project needs to be lightweight but durable enough to withstand sustained contact with a wide variety of chemicals and operating temperatures, consider Nylon. It’s one of the most widely used engineering thermoplastics!

Nylon is the generic name for the family of synthetic fibers known as polyamides (PA) and is perfect for wear and impact resistance. It is also a great material to replace metal in gears, fittings, and bearings. The Transportation industry alone accounts for over 35% of PA consumption.

Cast Nylon (Type 6) and Extruded Nylon 101 (6/6) are the most common variations, and you can add MDS (molybdenum disulfide -MoS2) and NSM solid lubricants. If you need additional lubricity and toughness, look for oil and glass filled varieties.
