Kydex is a thermoplastic acrylic-polyvinyl chloride material engineered for thermoforming fabrication, and combines the properties of both the acrylic and polyvinyl chloride components. Kydex is rigid and formable, highly durable and chemical resistance. It also offers low flammability (UL 94 classification V-0).For some applications it is used as replacement for leather, where it has the following advantages:

  • waterproof
  • scratch resistant
  • will not stretch or shrink under normal conditions

Characteristics

  • For deep or hard to form parts where good finished detail is required
  • More rigid than most thermoplastics so parts will deform less when loaded
  • Meets highest standard for chemical resistance for thermoplastic materials
  • Recognized by Underwriter’s Laboratories, Inc® for Std 94 V-0, 5V in all thicknesses and colors
